TeamA Project4 Post-mortem and Reflection

There were many things that needed improvement in our teamwork for project 4. The outcome was not as good as we would wanted it to be, but the learning we got from the process was very valuable.Even though we though we understood the team protocols, we did not really follow them properly. We seldom used voting protocol, assuming that everyone was on the same page. Also, we did not truly commit to the tasks we were assigned, and sometimes came unprepared to our meetings.

Also, we made the mistake of jumping straight from the research process to generating concepts, without considering much the insights.

Nonetheless, the biggest of our problems (and probably the cause of many of them) was teamwork. We wasted a lot of time discussing about unnecessary topics. Our meetings became long and unproductive. We ended putting a lot of emotions in our discussions, and that affected the team’s efficiency inside and outside our meetings.

Consequently, we followed an unorganized and slow process; we kept changing our core so many times that we could not come up with a final concept.

To improve our teamwork, we recognized the mistakes we made and agreed to follow the team protocols. We decided to do our best to listen and respect everybody’s point of view, not to take our discussions personally and not to include our emotions in them. Finally, we committed ourselves to be more productive an efficient for project 5. We had an honest and sincere post-mortem meeting, and it is worth to mention that as a result our meetings for project 5 are already been much more effective.
